The Poster Gift Guide — Six Directions That Land

Posters are the rare gift that is personal without being presumptuous — provided the subject is chosen from the recipient's actual life. Six reliable directions, each a real collection in this catalog:

By recipient

• The reader — For Book Lovers: reading cats, library prints, one-more-chapter humour.
• The traveller — Travel Posters: their favourite city, in railway-age graphics or modern flat colour.
• The music fan — The Music Room: jazz festivals and club nights.
• The home cook — Kitchen & Table: cocktails, markets, boils.
• The nature lover — National Parks: the park they keep talking about.
• Anyone, safely — Botanical Calm: the lowest-risk beautiful gift in the shop.

Gifts under $50

A hard $50 ceiling still buys a real print here, unframed: every design is $41 at 12×18in and $50 at 18×24in, so the under-$50 move is 12×18in unframed ($41) — pair it with a card and, if you know they own a frame, nothing else is needed. The shortlist below is drawn from the six directions above; open any print and its selector confirms the exact 12×18 total before you buy.

Housewarming gifts

New walls are blank walls, which makes a print the rare housewarming gift that is used the same week. Safe first-apartment subjects: botanical calm for the living room, kitchen prints for the room everyone ends up in, and a travel print of the city they just moved to. Framed at 12×18in ($75) it arrives ready to hang — no second purchase, no tape measures required of the recipient.

Framed or unframed, as a gift?

Framed, if the budget allows: a gift that needs a second purchase before it can be enjoyed is half a gift. At 12×18in the framed total is $75 in any finish — see the full ladder. Size advice: 12×18in suits most rooms; 18×24in when you know the wall.
