How big is it, really?

Every size against a 7 ft wall and a 5′6″ figure. If you are between sizes, the larger one is rarely the regret.

Curator’s note

National Library Week has run in America since 1958, and its yearly posters are small classics of civic design. The 1991 edition is a surprise: no cosy reading scene at all, but bold abstract blocks of teal, orange and pink cut with black — a modernist poster arguing that libraries belong to the present tense. The dates, April 16–22, sit in plain type at the foot. For librarians, teachers and the library-raised it is nostalgia with credentials, and the abstraction makes it easier to live with than a literal library scene. Hang it above the chair reserved for books, in a white or pale wood frame at 12×18.

Complete the wall: pair it with Animals

A different subject on purpose — Animals prints that are also multicoloured (measured from each artwork), so the pair reads as a set.
