Poster Sizes Explained — All 10 Sizes, to Scale
Poster sizing goes wrong in one direction: too small. A print that looked generous on a product page floats, lost, on a real wall. This guide gives you the ten sizes in this catalog, what each is honestly for, and a scale visualiser so you can see the difference before you spend.

Prices are the merchant's for every design (spot-checked 15 October 2026); framed means any of the four finishes, which cost the same. Every size is a portrait — the first number is the width.
Why the shape matters as much as the size
The ten sizes fall into six different shapes. Within one shape, a design scales up or down unchanged; across shapes, the artwork has to be fitted differently — a 4:5 print (8×10, 16×20) is squarer than a 2:3 print (12×18, 24×36). Before you buy, open the merchant's page at your chosen size to see how the design sits on it. For a gallery wall, choosing sizes from the same shape family keeps edges and margins consistent.
| Shape | Catalog sizes |
|---|---|
| 2:3 | 8×12, 12×18, 24×36 |
| 5:7 | 5×7, 20×28 |
| 4:5 | 8×10, 16×20 |
| 11:14 | 11×14 |
| 3:4 | 18×24 |
| 7:10 | 28×40 |
Ready-made frames are easiest to find in the most common photo and poster sizes; the less common ones (such as 8×12 and 20×28) can take longer to source. If you are framing yourself, check frame availability before choosing the print size — or choose it framed from Cozy Spirit Studio, where all ten sizes come framed at the prices above.

Tap a size. The jump from 12×18 to 18×24 is the one most people underestimate.
Three working rules
- Art above furniture should span roughly two-thirds of the furniture's width. Because every print here is a portrait, a 60in sofa (~40in of art) is best served by a pair — two 18×24s with a 3in gap span 39in; even the largest single print, 28×40, is only 28in wide. The couch planner does this arithmetic for any width.
- Pairs and grids beat one mid-size print on big walls. Two 18×24s with 2–3in between them read as one deliberate composition.
- When in doubt, go one size up. In this catalog the step from 12×18 ($41 unframed) to 18×24 ($50) is $9 — the cheapest drama in decorating.
