Acadia National Park Print

Acadia earns its poster the honest way — granite that falls straight into the Atlantic, a combination no other American national park offers — but the treatment here is painterly rather than poster-flat: loose brushy shapes for blue water, pink rock, a dark spruce and two coral-like bursts of orange and teal, the park's name hand-painted at the top. It suits rooms that need horizon and weather rather than decoration, and the looseness rewards bigger sizes; 18×24 or 24×36 lets the brushwork breathe. A black frame contains the energy. Hang it where the light changes during the day; seascapes, even abstracted ones, reward it.
